The Liveaboard industry of Maldives can be traced back to the 1970s which was the earliest days of Tourism in Maldives. Over the last decade the industry have rapidly evolved due to exposure towards modernism and increasing demand from clients. Where as a traditional boat once cost US$ 15,000 in 1973, today a 100ft and above customized luxury Live-aboard may easily cost up to US$ One Million and above.
The Cruise Business was the first business venture into by Canopus Maldives. Early in the birth of the Cruise Industry, Canopus Maldives began with two of its own Luxury liveaboards or ‘safari boats’ called Dhinasha and Orca. We specialized in Surfing, Diving, and Cruising trips.
The 7room cruise boat, Orca, was sold off late 2007.
